Broccoli

A member of the cabbage family, broccoli is a nutrition rich and highly flavorful vegetable. Every part of the plant is edible - the florets, the stalk and the leaves. All three provide wildly different flavors.

Nutrition

Broccoli is high in protein, fiber, Vitamin C and many other nutrients. Since many of these are cooked away, raw broccoli provides the most nutritional value. However, given the high fiber and protein levels, raw broccoli can sometimes be too much.

Growth

Broccoli is a cool weather crop - growing ideally in temperatures of 40 to 75°. Therefore, broccoli is traditionally planted in late summer. However with modern technologies this is no longer necessary and broccoli is available year round.
