Cereal Sausage

Mixing rice cereal in with pork and frying for breakfast will result in crunchier breakfast sausage than normal. Try it and enjoy.

Needs

  1. 1 cup rice cereal
  2. 1 pound ground pork
  3. Salt

TIME

  1. 20 minutes

SERVES

  1. 5 sausages

Cooking it up

  1. Mix one cup rice cereal with ground pork. Pack into small sausage patties then fry for ten minutes per side, or fry until the pork is done and the rice cereal is crunchy. Optionally, fry the sausages in oil or fry in broth.

Other Alternatives

  1. Alternative 1: Before mixing the cereal into the ground pork, fry it in a little canola oil along with some garlic and onions for about five minutes. This will give your cereal an incredibly flavor that will spread into the pork once it is mixed, then cooked, together.

  2. Alternative 2: Rice cereal isn't the only cereal that works here. Kamut, for those that can eat it, also becomes incredibly crunchy. If on the other hand you would rather go for meaty thickness instead of rich crunchiness, then try mixing in oats (rolled oats will cook faster).
