Baked Quinoa Stir Fry (More Information)

The quinoa for this baked stir fry can be easily cooked up in any liquid. The purpose of the liquid however is to add in flavor. Broth works best for this dish because broth blends nicely with the sweetness from the pineapple juice. Also, broth is easy to control during the cooking (which will prevent the quinoa from over- or under-cooking).

Carrots and onions are merely one suggestion for frying this. Any vegetable combination works - or even frying this with fruit or meat works just as well. The real purpose is to create a mixture of flavors that work with the quinoa. These two contain enough sugar however that they work very well with the pineapple juice.

In general, the pineapple juice works pretty well with the quinoa, carrots and onions - all have strong flavors that blend in unique ways with each other. More importantly, the flavors that the quinoa has absorbed from the broth will become richer when mixed with the pineapple juice during the frying and baking.

The most important part of this recipe however is not the ingredients - the most important part is the cooking process. After the quinoa has cooked, frying it will enhance the flavors plus mix it in with new flavors from the vegetables. The baking will finish it off making it considerably crunchier.
