Anti-Tomato Tomato Sauce (More Information)

While tomato allergies are not common, they do occur. More often the case is that one gets tired of eating too many tomatoes. This recipe presents one option for an alternative to tomato sauce that ends up tasting as rich as tomato sauce but with a whole new mixture of flavors that taste great over pasta or a grain.

The rice flour is optional but thickens this sauce. If you prefer a less thick sauce, then skip the rice flour. The carrots and onions will also help to add thickness to this recipe (along with taste). This would be a variable to experiment with to figure out what tastes you prefer.

A large chunk of the flavor actually comes from the broth and the pineapple juice mixing together. The deep rich flavors of the broth mix nicely - albeit in unexpected ways - with the sweetness of the pineapple juice.

Finally, given that this does end up looking a little disgusting - especially when mixed with rice pasta, we'd like to remind you that the only purpose of food is taste. Looks don't matter. And this recipe tastes really rich, pretty sweet and gives all kinds of flavor to the otherwise bland rice or rice pasta.
